Those of you that have MySpace & Facebook accounts, did it take you a while to get comfortable with the idea?

What makes socializing that way easier than doing it face to face?

Is anything lost in the speed and process of all this?

:idea: In my experience, I enjoy the options and speed of social websites but I find people's identity is lost because you are not actually speaking to them directly. You can't communicate fully. You can't see the emotion that they evoke while typing you a message so I have trouble figuring out where people are coming from; unless they take the time to give me more background.

Does anyone else feel this way? :?:

i do not want a myspace account because i dont want my information given to anybody.

Do you feel like you are aware of the problems that can occur with chatting on-line?
Yes I do not like chatting online unless it is a family member. I had a thing on aol that tells me if I want to talk to this person and if I know them I wil talk but then if it says some sexual or meet me somewhere then I delete it for good.


Have you ever felt like you were being too forward with any information that you have shared?
I don't think that I am to forward because I know that friends are the only ones that will look and it. Like I said before I don't talk to people that I don't know.

People, if you dont want people seeing your myspace, or your information, then make it private account, and dont let any one see accept people you know like friends and family, and if you dont know the person, then dont add him/her and your information will be fine! :roll:

I do have both a myspace and a facebook profile. I use them both to keep in touch with friends and family, as well as to network with other people who are in a similar situation as I am in. In reguards to feeling safe on Facebook or MySpace, that is almost entirely in your hands, I created my myspace profile and put very little information out for the public to see. I have never really had a bad experience on MySpace or Facebook. You just have to be careful of who you add as a friend.
